Portland, Ore. (November 20, 2022) – When Boss Nation Brands Inc., a pet gut nutrition company, heard that the Portland Animal Welfare (PAW) Team needed dog food for their Pet Supply Bank, Chief Executive Officer Basel Nassar knew he had to do something. “Resources are stretched thin at the PAW Team. We had excess supply of our Boss Dog High Protein Dog Food so it was an easy decision. The work this Portland rescue does in their community is simply amazing,” said Nassar recently.
PAW Team’s mission is to save lives, alleviate suffering, and keep pets and people together by providing free and low-cost veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing houselessness or extreme poverty. Boss Nation’s donation will help serve around 200 families in the Portland area.
“In this economy we are seeing more and more pet owners in need of pet supplies and food for their animals. By helping people and their pets, it keeps them together. We want to prevent animals from being turned into rescues and shelters due to lack of resources. We want to foster the human animal bond,” said Keely Burkey, Executive Director of PAW Team.
PAW Team’s free pet supply bank is stocked solely by in-kind donations from community members and businesses like Boss Nation Brands. The Pet Supply Bank is open to the public three days a week and sees an average of 35 individuals every day. That number has increased significantly in recent months and the nonprofit needs much more cat and dog food.
In 2021, PAW Team distributed over 26,000 pounds of dry dog and cat food. This year the Portland nonprofit will distribute even more.
With the support of volunteer veterinarians, PAW Team also provides essential wellness care and ongoing treatment through vaccine clinics, as well as off-site clinics at housing shelters and resource centers across town. Services include vaccinations, microchipping, flea/parasite prevention, and well as medication and management of some chronic conditions, prescription diets, spay/neuter procedures, and more.
